About Tim

Tim Schofield is a progressive leader who will be a strong voice and advocate for working people. He knows that government has a role to play in creating jobs, assisting small businesses and providing fair and open opportunities for everyone.

Working Class Roots

Tim understands the struggles of working families. He is the youngest of eight children from a working class family. Tim was born in Cambridge, went to public schools and, with the help of the G.I. Bill and student loans, was the first in his family to go to college, graduating from the University of New Hampshire.

Tim earned his law degree from Boston College Law School and has built a successful small business – a law practice – which employs five people. He understands, from personal experience, the challenges small businesses face in a struggling economy with ever-increasing health care costs.

Standing Up for Progressive Values

Tim has been active in progressive politics for many years. He served as an issues advisor to former State Senator Warren Tolman and as Chair of the Boston Ward 21 Democratic Committee. An openly gay man, Tim was active in the fight for equal marriage and has served on the Board of the Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar Association. He also serves on the Board of the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund and is committed to ensuring women's rights to reproductive health and choice.

Tim currently lives in Brighton.
